gr-ATTITUDE

“Saying thank you is more than good manners. It is good spirituality.” — Alfred Painter

I got to thinking this morning about gratitude. it's all too easy to go through the routine of our day without being thankful for all the things we should. gratitude is something that should be practiced, so it becomes habit to be aware of and acknowledge your blessings.

"A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds." - remez sasson
well, hey whatd'yaknow - i like happiness, joy, health & success so sign me up! besides, life's just too dang short not to be happy.

there are so many websites out there about being grateful, it's crazy! one that i really liked is: http://www.gratefulness.org/index.htm#
on that website, there are all kinds of "gratitude exercises" and ideas on how to be a positive thinking person. i really like the grateful news, where they add positive news stories to read about every month. sweet!

so in my attempt to live a more grateful life myself, i'll list things i'm thankful for each day on this blog. big or small, every blessing deserves to be acknowledged so i'll do my best.

i remember a conference that we had for work a few years back and the keynote speaker was talking about the importance of positive thinking. he shared how his wife has kept happiness journals for years. each night before bed, she pulls out her journal and just lists the things she is happy for each day. after doing this for years, she now has books and books full of things that she has been thankful for. what a nice thought!

www.butterbeehappy.com is an online journal where you can record your happy thoughts...i used it for a while and it was really fun. each week, they'd email you a list of all the things you were happy for that week. i figure, in an attempt to grow this blog, i should keep my record of happy things here....

so today, i am GRATEFUL for:
1. it's Friday & we have very little scheduled for this weekend which means relaxing on the couch with my boys - sounds perfect.
2. it's raining...which means greener grass, refreshed flowers and a fuller lake
3. i'm back at a job where i am genuinely happy. i feel like i'm making a positive difference and working with a great group of people!

  2. Kiddo you know I am pretty much the believer in THANKFUL THURSDAY! Been doing that for what like 2 years now...I know it's not EVERYDAY but it does bring me back to thinking about things at least once a week. Puts all things in persepective! I love it! Great blog!
