34 weeks: goodbye 2011 hello 2012!

Our world according to Alpha Mom:
Your Baby:
  • Weighs as much as your average cantaloupe (4.75 pounds-ish) and is almost 18 inches long.
  • Reaching the 34-week mark is a big milestone for anyone concerned about pre-term labor, as babies born at this stage usually do just fine (provided they’re otherwise healthy). Other than a slightly longer stay at the hospital, they generally don’t experience any of the long-term health problems that prematurity can cause.
  • That said, don’t let your baby go and get any big ideas about escaping just yet. More baby fat and a few more weeks of lung maturity will still make everybody’s lives easier.
You:
  • Fatigue, heartburn, nausea, frequent trips to the bathroom. It’s like the Return of the First Trimester, only much bigger and rounder and gruntier.
so not too much new to report on the pregnancy front this week...things are pretty status quo. like alpha mom describes, 1st trimester fun has reared it's ugly head but what can ya do? at least now there's a finish line in sight so i'm focusing on that.

in honor of this week's holiday (new years), i'm reflecting on the past year and looking to the year ahead. big changes to say the least! but change is good. i know that our lives are playing out according to God's plan and boy does that feel good. we're just along for the ride, really :) 2011 was a great year...we experienced a lot and had a ton of fun....travelling, celebrations, baby news, baby excitement, baby fears and finally settling in to preparing for miss harper to join our family. for your viewing pleasure, i've gathered some of my favorite pictures from the year to recap:

February A.to.Z.

i've been neglecting my poor little blog for a while now...thanks to a crazy busy work schedule, marathon training, starting this blog, and i'll be honest...feeling like what i have to say just isn't that riveting. but 2011 is coming right along and february is turning out to be a pretty exciting month! here's what's on my radar...

Alice in Wonderland-themed shower: in april, i'm throwing sara a bridal shower and i'm pretty set on an alice in wonderland/tea party theme. i've found much inspiration here and here
Birthday month: well duh! it's my birthday month - and not just any birthday...THIRTY!! (gulp)
Cold weather: crazy cold weather has hit this week. thank goodness for hot tea and snuggling on the couch under warm blankets!
DVR: thanks to E! and it's re-runs of Sex & the City, i have a lot of DVR watching to do!
Executive surf club: going home for a brief moment later this month to work at an admissions reception for utsa. conveniently, it is right across the street from one of my favorite places ever :)
Forever 21: i still need to get to the new store that opened up in north star mall. apparently it is quite the place.
Girlfriends: i've been lucky enough to be spending some time with some pretty awesome girls lately. blessed to have them in my life :)
Hair cut: looking forward to a much needed haircut this weekend! (hey, this is the stuff that's on my radar, never said it was life-changing)
I am style-ish: adorable blog i happened to stumble on the other day
Jazz fest: planning to go to this great event in april. can't wait!
Knitting: taking up this new hobby...already have the supplies to knit a wonderful peach-colored scarf...now all i have to do is learn how!
LiveSTRONG: it's been a joy to raise funds and awareness for this amazing organization. check them out here!
Marathon: christina and i will be running the austin marathon on 2/20! just 18 days away...eeek!
Nella Cordelia: reading about this little piece of heaven & her family is one of the best parts of my day :)
Organic: trying to eat this as much as possible.
Pilates: been neglecting this important part of my training. i need to get back to a regular routine with this...i know i won't regret it
Quality couch time: one of my favorite parts of marathon training - sitting back and recharging during taper time :)
Reorganization: closets, office space, you name it...i'm organizing it! (my motto has become simplify, simplify, simplify!)
San Fran: going here to celebrate my birthday! i'm so excited. this is a city i've always wanted to visit. i know cody & i are going to love it...and we're getting to visit with some great friends as well!
Tutus: still lovin' the tutus! i just made some for friends' babies and now i'm starting a liveSTRONG tutu to run in for the marathon!
Uggs: smart purchase considering the weather. these things are simply divine.
Valentines day: no big plans this year with the race and our san fran trip coming up but any day i get to celebrate the love i have in my heart...that's a good day if you ask me!
Weddings: two of the most important people in my life are getting married this year. lots of planning, dress shopping & celebration ahead!
X factor: urban dictionary defines this as: it's just that "thing" that makes an individual stand out. captures your full attention...yeah. i want that.
Yoga: to keep me balanced & present.
Zzzzz's: gotta catch more of these to stay healthy and strong for the blessed month ahead!

goodbye summer...

wow...september 1st?!? where did the summer go?

although it is still ridiculously hot outside and we still have pool parties & bbq's ahead, i feel like september marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. the days are already getting shorter, classes are back in session & pumpkin spice lattes are back in starbucks. yes, fall is right around the corner.

this summer has been just as wonderful as i had anticipated. lots of laughs with family and friends & looking back, i'm reminded of how abundantly blessed we are. here is a recap of some of my favorite moments from this summer (besides the lake trip, which i already recapped :)

-movie premiers-
"hi, i'm almost 30..."

out with some of my fave girls to see Sex & the City 2

cosmos, pretty dresses & heels, oh my!

-we bought a new car! stellar gas mileage, eco friendly, sunroof, xm radio...what's not to love about penny lane the prius?-

-spending time with my 2 favorite kids-
jack

aiden

-stephanie's bachelorette party @ the lake-

"wiggin' out party"

a day @ the sandbar in tutu's...why not?

-cody's 10 year reunion-
i'll be honest. i was so not looking forward to this...for some reason, i was picturing the stereotypical hs reunion: judgemental stares, awkward run-ins with exes and overall uncomfortable-ness all weekend long. i couldn't have been more wrong. i forgot to take into account the fact that cody has an amazing group of high school friends who we hang out with all the time. so it wound up being just like any other weekend really, but with a churchill-themed party. it was such a great weekend.

friday night:
-me, erica & steph:

-cody & eric:

saturday night pre party:

saturday night dance party:

proud of his churchill roots:

-and of course, steph & eric's wedding-
rehearsal dinner:

we had so much fun getting ready for steph's big day.

abby's ipod mix, chick-fil-a, makeup, hair, mimosas & good friends. what a great day!

one of the sweetest moments...steph & eric talking before the wedding but not seeing eachother.

she is stunning!

mr. & mrs. cervenka!

just gorgeous:

and time to dance!
(our poker face dance...you're jealous you didn't think of it first, admit it!)

gettin' low to apple bottom jeans, a classic.

some amazing pics that our friend kara took.
